Il Poggio al Vento, the hill in the wind
In the heartland of Tuscany, only a few kilometers away from the ancient spa of Bagno Vignoni, where already Etruscans went to relax from their buissy lifes and the midevel village of San Quirico d'Orcia, that was founded in the 12th century along the old Via Cassia, just about where the hillslopes seperating these villages are beginning to fall down to the Orcia river, there is the Poggio al Vento estate, surrounded by a picture postcard scenery. From here the view glances from the Mount Amiata (Monte Amiata), through the steep and narrow Orcia canyon, over to the hills of Montalcino with its Brunello vineyards, till it looses itself far in the distance over the Siena roof tops. While enjoying this incredibly beautiful landscape you'll have the chance to taste the fruits of the Mascelloni famillys' hard work, such as the their wine, their olive oil and their bees' honey they are making "just out of passion". |
